The start of any online class is sort of odd. You don't see anybody, and yet you are in a class.
If this is your first time in an online class you may feel that you don't have a clue. Don't worry, I'm sure you will find your way around without too much trouble--and start to learn quickly.
If you have never used WebCT Vista, there is plenty of help available. The best place to go to is the WebCT Vista support page.
Click on the link that says, "WebCT Vista Tutorials." Then on the next page you will find a section called Student Tutorials, under that you will see "Navigating Vista4," and "Submitting Assignments."
You should do those as a minimum, but there is a link for "more..." You may want to check it out also.
Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML by Elisabeth Freeman & Eric Freeman; Published by O'Reilly; ISBN-10 0-596-10197-x
The book is absolutely mandatory. I can not imagine how you could complete this course without a personal copy of the textbook. It's available online at the Mesa Bookstore and at almost any bookstore in the USA, including Amazon.com. It is very inexpensive compared to most textbooks used today--but, it is really EXCELLENT! You will want to keep it in your personal collection.
A Syllabus is never fun to read, but it is always very important. It sets down all the groundrules of the course. If you read it, you won't be surprised down the line.
I have been involved with Web Design for many years and I really love to do it. I hope you really enjoy this course and learn how to do great websites. That's the best reason for you to take the course and it's the only reason I teach it.
